What is TRIP, and how does it work?
TRIP is OLPH’s “Tuition Reduction Incentive Program.” TRIP works by allowing you to purchase gift cards from participating retailers who then donate a percentage of the total purchase back to the school. 1% of any rebate goes to OLPH, and the remaining rebate goes into an account for each participating family and can be used to offset tuition costs, as well as other school expenses – such as the 8th grade Washington DC trip, the 6th grade Camp Storer trip, extended day, the comprehensive/registration fee, and the hot lunch program. (Disclaimer – Some options may be affected by the TRIP fundraising deadlines and payment due dates.)
How do I order TRIP gift cards?
All ordering and payment for the gift cards is done online, at the OLPH “Shop With Scrip” web site: shopwithscrip.com. You must have an email address and a bank account for electronic payments in order to enroll. All orders and payments must be made through the Shop With Scrip web site. (No cash or checks will be accepted.) There is also an option to pay with a credit card, but a percentage fee does apply.
How do I enroll?
Once you receive and enter the OLPH code, please follow the instructions to complete the registration form.
How do I link my bank account?
You can set up online payments once you’ve registered. The easiest and most cost-effective way to pay is by linking your bank account through a secure online payment system that electronically withdraws funds from your checking or savings account. Once you have registered, go to your Dashboard, and select “Payment Types” under “Family Functions.” You can enroll by linking your bank account or entering the information manually.
Once I’ve enrolled, what kind of gift cards can I buy?
There are three different types of gift cards available, depending upon the technology supported by each individual retailer:
- eGift Cards: Hundreds of retailers offer electronic gift cards, which you can purchase and receive instantly. Then you can print them or redeem them from your mobile device. Get more info about eGift Cards.
- Physical Gift Cards: 700+ retailers from across the country offer physical gift cards for purchase.
- Reloadable Cards: You can order a reloadable physical gift card to which you can later add funds when your balance is low. More than 120 retailers offer a reload option that will add funds to your card immediately or overnight (depending on the retailer) which means you won’t have to wait for a new card to ship. Is there a cost to order TRIP?
All orders must be placed online, whether you are ordering physical or e-gift cards, or reloading a card you already have. When paying by bank account, the fee is $0.15 per payment transaction, regardless of the size of your order. So, if you order $10 in gift cards, the fee is $0.15. But if you order $1,000 in gift cards – the fee is still only $0.15. On the rebate side, 1% of the rebate goes to OLPH, and the rest goes to your family. For example – if a card offers an 8% rebate, you would receive 7%, while OLPH would receive 1%. If you choose to pay with a credit card, a larger fee is assessed, totaling 2.6% of the total purchase amount. (Fees subject to change.)
Shop With Scrip features many retailers that offer generous rebate percentages. Plus, many retailers offer regular promotions with even higher rebates at various times of the year, such as around the holidays or at back-to-school time.
How do I get the gift cards I’ve ordered?
eGift Card orders process immediately. With e-gift cards, you can order whenever you want, and however often you want. They may be purchased and redeemed almost instantly by printing a copy of the gift card or presenting an electronic version at checkout.
With physical gift cards, if your order has been submitted online by SUNDAY at 3:00 PM, your order will be ready for pick up in the school office beginning Thursday of the same week, during regular school office hours. The person who picks up your order will be required to sign out the order at the time of pick up. Your student may pick up the order, but he or she will also have to sign for the order in the school office. OLPH is not responsible for gift cards that are lost after they are picked up. Additionally – inclement weather or “snow days” may delay the availability of physical gift card orders. The ordering schedule also varies during the summer months.
Can other people buy gift cards and raise money for my family?
Yes! Your family members can visit shopwithscrip.com and each set up their own account using the OLPH enrollment code, adding your student’s name in the registration form. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for our organization’s enrollment code.
Is there a mobile app?
The new RaiseRight app launched in late 2020. Just download the app from your app store (available for both iPhone and Android), and log in using the same username and password you use at the Shop With Scrip website.
When and how do I get the money I have earned from my rebates?
The TRIP fundraising year runs from February 1 through January 31. So, from February 1, 2020, through January 31, 2021, you will be fundraising for the school year that follows those dates (in this example – the 2021-22 school year). After the fundraising period ends, you will receive a statement that shows the proceeds your family has earned from that fundraising period. At that time, you will be given the opportunity to decide how you’d like to allocate the balance to tuition or fee expenses for the following school year. Remember, you can apply your balance to tuition or fees, OR you can put the funds toward other expenses such as the 8th grade Washington DC trip, the 6th grade Camp Storer trip, extended care, or hot lunches! (Disclaimer – These additional options may be affected by the TRIP fundraising deadlines and payment due dates.)
Can I use TRIP to help pay for Catholic high school tuition?
Yes! You can use the program as described above. When the fundraising period ends and you receive your statement, you can indicate to which school you would like to have your balance sent. Remember, the funds you earn will be applied to your tuition balance for the following school year.
I’ve heard I can also sign up for Kroger Community Rewards with OLPH. How does that work?
You can earn additional funds to offset OLPH tuition and fees through the Kroger Community Rewards program. Through this program, Kroger donates a portion of grocery purchases associated with your Kroger Plus Card back to an organization you select, such as OLPH. “Claim” your funds from Kroger by copying your quarterly Kroger Community Rewards statement from the Kroger web site and submitting a copy to OLPH when requested. Registration for Community Rewards takes only a few minutes and doesn’t require any further action or maintenance – other than submitting your quarterly statement to OLPH for credit. The more individuals who elect to support OLPH through this program, the higher the donation that Kroger makes, increasing proceeds for both the school and your family.
