RCIA is the process whereby adults (age 8 and older in Canon Law), both baptized and non-baptized, are brought into full communion with the Catholic Church.

GRADE SCHOOL PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION (PSR)

Catechism for the young parishioners attending public schools is called different names in different parishes. At OLPH, we call it Parish School of Religion (PSR). (You may also know it by an older acronym: CCD.)

At OLPH, PSR exists to catechize those young parishioners who do not attend OLPH School. The program occurs for all students on Mondays from 4:00 to 5:00 PM beginning in September and ending in April. It is our aim to ensure that our students are spiritually fed and competent in matters of faith and church teaching. Instruction for grade 1-6 follows a traditional model of education in which the teachers utilize our religious education program, Alive in Christ from Our Sunday Visitor, to communicate the truths of the faith. Our 7th and 8th graders participate in our Junior High Ministry called Spiritus Sanctus. This ministry follows a bible study model in which the students break open scripture, watch a well prepared instructional video, and discuss the material. Our material for Spiritus Sanctus come from Ascension Press.

CHILDREN’S LITURGY OF THE WORD – SUNDAY SCHOOL

We welcome children, from 3-year-old PreK through 2nd grade, to join us at Sunday School. Each Sunday, children will learn the same message as the rest of the congregation through simplified prayers, songs, and readings. They will be encouraged to take home the message they learned and share it with others. We will meet in Mrs. Morris’ classroom, and doors open at 10:45 AM. Space is limited to 25 children. To register or for more information, contact Alex McCormack at amccormack1@olphtoledo.net. Or register online.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (VBS)

Vacation Bible School is held during Summer vacation each year generally during the third week of June from Monday to Thursday. We want this to be a family event, and so we make it as easy for parents as we can. We utilize Our Sunday Visitor’s Totally Catholic VBS which helps to make connections between the content and the Catholic Faith. Registration typically begins mid May.
